This is a brand new unit - no core exchange necessary.
Please change your voltage regulator at the same time as fitting a new alternator. Many charging problems are due to faulty regulators.
When re-fitting the cover plate on the back of the alternator you must ensure it does not contact the terminals and short the alternator.
